From Survey To Certificate

Bridge Heating & Gas Services Ltd installs commercial gas pipework for new builds, major refurbishments, and system replacements across Essex, Kent and London, from short distribution runs through to complete plant room installations serving multi-boiler systems, catering kitchens, and process appliances.

Gas Safe registered (199240) and incorporated in 2009, we bring over 20 years of commercial gas pipework experience to every project. Every job is handled from survey and gas pipework design through to testing, commissioning and handover certification, typically working alongside main contractors, M&E consultants, project managers and end clients. All testing and commissioning is to IGEM/UP standards, with full handover certification.

Commercial gas pipework installation is regulated work where compliant first time matters: failed commissioning means programme delays, re-test costs, and the safety implications of leaks in occupied buildings. Getting the design, materials, and testing right at the start avoids all three.

Complete Installation Service

We provide end-to-end installation services covering all aspects of commercial gas distribution:

  • Design Consultation: Working with you, your architects, and consulting engineers to develop suitable gas distribution solutions
  • Site Survey: Comprehensive assessment of site conditions, access, and installation requirements
  • System Design: Detailed pipe sizing calculations, routing plans, and material specifications
  • Off-Site Fabrication Coordination: Pre-construction of complex sections through specialist workshop partners: faster site programmes and controlled-environment quality
  • Professional Installation: On-site installation by Gas Safe registered (199240) engineers
  • Pressure Testing: Strength and tightness testing to IGEM/UP standards
  • Commissioning: Safe purging and commissioning to bring systems into operation
  • Certification: Full handover documentation and certification for compliance and records

Materials & System Types

We work with all standard commercial gas pipework materials and systems:

  • Screwed steel pipework for standard installations
  • Welded steel for higher pressure and larger diameter systems
  • Stainless steel for specialised applications
  • Polyethylene for external buried installations
  • Copper for smaller branch connections (where permitted)
  • All associated valves, regulators, filters, and safety devices

Project Types We Handle

  • New commercial buildings and industrial facilities
  • Multi-unit developments with communal heating systems
  • Commercial kitchens and food service facilities
  • Industrial workshops and manufacturing facilities
  • Leisure facilities and hotels
  • Educational and healthcare facilities
  • Retail and mixed-use developments

A Common Issue We Catch Early

A pattern we see on busy multi-trade projects: gas pipework routes clashing with other services (HVAC, sprinklers, electrical containment) discovered only at first fix when the M&E coordination drawings have not kept pace with site reality. Caught at survey or coordinated design stage, it is a routing change on paper. Caught on site, it is a programme delay, a re-work cost, and an awkward conversation. We work hard at the design and survey stages to head this off.

Quality & Safety Standards

All installation work is carried out to appropriate commercial gas standards, manufacturer instructions, and agreed project requirements:

  • All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers holding current ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme) qualifications for the work involved. Bridge Heating & Gas Services Ltd is Gas Safe registered business 199240.
  • Compliance with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998
  • Adherence to IGEM/UP/1, UP/1B, UP/2, UP/11, UP/12 and related standards as applicable
  • Building Regulations Part J compliance
  • Manufacturer specifications and industry best practices
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) packs for all projects
  • Quality control and inspection at all stages

Project Management & Coordination

We understand that gas pipework installation is one element of a larger project. We work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure smooth integration:

  • Regular communication with project managers and lead contractors
  • Coordination with other mechanical and electrical trades
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate project programmes
  • Proactive problem-solving to keep projects on track
  • Clear documentation and progress reporting
  • Final handover with comprehensive as-built documentation

For handover to ongoing operation, we also offer Annual Service Agreements covering scheduled tightness testing, gas safety certification, and priority callout response, a clean route from project completion into structured ongoing compliance.
